1. A new file is included with this build: LOADSAFE.EXE. Running this program instead of SAFE.EXE loads SAFE much faster. You should only bother with this if you have experienced very long start up times.
This is in response to a number of you who reported that SAFE 4.0 is taking longer to start up than in the past. The problem is with the new Microsoft libraries we use to build SAFE (which shouldn't surprise anyone---just look how fast Office 2000 runs. Not!
Note that this change does not actually speed load time (the time it takes before you can begin really using SAFE). But it does make the Splash Screen appear almost instantly to inform you that 'something is really happening'.
2. Posting to the G/L with a complete change log is now here. That means that changes to source transactions may be reflected in the G/L as reversing entries. This is good news for customers who want to see the effect in the G/L every time any change is made to source transactions. The current behavior of writing to the G/L only the final version of a transaction is still the default. You also have more control over where these changes will post: Either to the current period, or, as before, to the originating period.
3. Numbering and imprinting may be specified separately for each Site (Shipping Address) on each Sales Order Line Item. For example, if you order checks to be shipped to five bank branches, you can order them as one line, but now specify separate Starting and Ending Numbers for each Site. SAFE will properly remember the next starting number when each branch reorders.
